Hot summers can be a bit harsh and it is inevitable that we have to buy Air conditioners to keep our body cool and free of sweat during summers.
The traditional air-conditioners can be attached in rooms but what if you need the same experience outdoors while going for a walk or shopping.
Well, Sony has something for you under its sleeves.
Behold, the wearable Air conditioner – Reon Pocket.
Launched as a crowdfunding product within its own Sony platform, the Reon Pocket is a special pocketable device that helps users keep their body cool during summers.
The Reon Pocket is a fairly slim palm-sized white plastic device that charges over USB-C and connects to your iOS or Android phone with Bluetooth.
There’s a silicone pad on the back that you can press against your skin, and the Reon Pocket uses the Peltier effect to cool or warm itself up by absorbing and releasing heat. However the most widely promoted use case involves buying Sony’s special V-neck undershirts with a pocket on the inner back and attaching the portable air-conditioner between the shoulder blades.
The device only weighs about 80 grams, so beyond the cooling and warming effects it doesn’t really feel noticeable when you’re wearing it in the undershirt, and it doesn’t stick out beneath another layer of clothing.
Reon Pocket works in such a way that it can reduce your body surface temperature by 13°C, say from 37°C to 24°C. The temperature reduction will not cover your entire body of course, but it will provide cooling effect on the body area it covers.
As mentioned earlier, there is a dedicated app for this device. The app is pretty simple though and gives you direct control over the Reon Pocket’s temperature settings.
If you are willing to purchase this device, it is out now exclusively in Japan and costs 13,000 yen (Rs.9152) for the device itself, and the undershirts (available in white or beige) are 1,800 yen (Rs.1267) each.
